Bener Meriah, January 11, 2023 – The Director-General of State Wealth officially inaugurated the Coffee Cluster in the Devisa Village Program today (11/01). The inauguration was attended by the Assistant for Economic Affairs and Development of the Secretariat of Aceh, Acting Regent of Bener Meriah, Acting Regent of Central Aceh, Representative of Bank Syariah Indonesia Regional I Aceh, Executive Director of the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI), Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of State Wealth, Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxation Aceh, Representative of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury Aceh, and Representative of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise Aceh.
The development of the Devisa Village in Bener Meriah District is the result of collaboration between the Aceh Government, LPEI, The Minister of Finance of Aceh, the Bener Meriah District Government, and Bank Syariah Indonesia, involving 125 coffee farmers from five villages in Bener Meriah District.
"We hope that the guidance and support from LPEI can enhance the quality of Gayo coffee production, which is already globally renowned, and produce the best quality, making it globally competitive with coffee commodities from other countries," said Rionald Silaban, the Director-General of State Wealth.
Agus Windiarto, the Executive Director of Finance and Operations at LPEI, conveyed that LPEI, as the Special Mission Vehicle of The Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, is determined to penetrate the export market with Bener Meriah's flagship commodity. "Through the Devisa Village Program, LPEI will provide training and mentoring to coffee farmers and supporting cooperatives in Bener Meriah District. The goal is to enhance capacity and competitiveness to bring forth globally recognized local premium products."
Rio appreciated all parties involved and hoped that the inauguration of the Devisa Village could ignite greater enthusiasm for creating synergy to improve the welfare and income of coffee entrepreneurs/farmers. This, in turn, would contribute to sustainable increases in exports and foreign exchange earnings.
The Coffee Cluster in Bener Meriah District's Devisa Village Program encompasses 125 coffee farmers from five villages: Sedie Jadi, Waq Pondok Sayur, Panji Mulia 1, Bale Redelong, and Kute Lintang. The coffee produced is Arabica coffee (Coffea benghalensis) of the Gayo variety. These coffee farmers are members of the Panca Gayo Coffee Cooperative, a result of collaborative guidance from the Directorate General of State Wealth Aceh Regional Office and the Department of Cooperatives and SMEs of Bener Meriah District, aiming to be a coffee production hub.
