Perkuat Kerja Sama Bidang Investasi dan Keuangan, LPEI Tanda Tangani Nota Kesepahaman dengan MEXIM

Jakarta, January 9, 2023 - The Indonesian Export Financing Institution (LPEI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Export-Import Bank of Malaysia (MEXIM) on January 8, 2023, in Jakarta. The signing was part of the official state visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to Indonesia from January 8 to 10, 2023.

The MoU was signed by Riyani Tirtoso, Executive Director of LPEI, and Arshad Ismail, President/Chief Executive Officer of MEXIM. The event was witnessed by Chairman Dato' Azman Mahmud of MEXIM and Rionald Silaban, Director General of State Wealth at The Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. The MoU exchange ceremony was attended by Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno L.P. Marsudi, and Indonesian Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, coinciding with the Letter of Intent Handover & MoU Exchange Ceremony.

During the occasion, Riyani stated, "The MoU between the Indonesian Export Financing Institution/Indonesia Eximbank and MEXIM will enable both institutions to address economic development challenges by providing sustainable market-oriented innovative products in economic, social, and environmental aspects. This collaboration also aims to enhance the capacities of both parties, allowing Indonesia and Malaysia to open broader market access, not only between the two countries but also by cooperating to access markets in other countries. LPEI and MEXIM together will support business investments and remain resilient in the competitive market."

The collaboration between LPEI and MEXIM is expected to serve as an efficient communication channel for mutually beneficial projects, exploring opportunities for exchanging information related to export activities, benchmarking cooperation, business training, and secondment in credit, risk assurance, expanding customer reach, as well as collaboration in providing services such as L/C confirmation, L/C insurance, trade refinancing, and reinsurance facilities.

Arshad commented, "MEXIM and Indonesia Eximbank will grow closer as we appreciate the opportunity to collaborate and strengthen the cooperation we have. Indonesia Eximbank is a crucial partner, and we hope to maintain active dialogue and communication for sustainable business and project references."

As a Special Mission Vehicle (SMV) under The Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, LPEI continues to drive national export growth and assist exporters in expanding their business capacities through mandates in financing, assurance, insurance, and consultancy services. Meanwhile, MEXIM is a government-owned Export Credit Agency in Malaysia with a mandate to provide effective financing and takaful solutions for Malaysia's import-export activities. LPEI and MEXIM are also members of several international forums, including The Asian Exim Banks Forum.
